Ambassador María Teresa Belandria was the honorary lecturer during the opening of the seminar “For além das fronteiras: public and intersectoral security” organized by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of the State of Minas Gerais and held in the Administrative City of Belo Horizonte.
Ambassador Belandria has a broad curriculum in the area of security and defense, which led her to be part of the faculty of the National Defense University in Washington D.C., in the United States. The opening ceremony of the seminar was attended by Mr. Rogério Greco, Secretary of Justice and Public Security of Minas Gerais, the Commanders of the Military Police, the Military Fire Department, the Federal Police and the Penitentiary Police, as well as the Chief of the Civil Police.
The objective of the seminar is to promote research and share ideas that serve to design new work plans and strategies in the area of public safety. Among the topics that will be addressed are cyber crimes, transnational crimes and terrorism, and environmental crimes, among others.
Professors and researchers from the Federal University of Minas Gerais and the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas, authorities from the public safety area of various institutions and members of the Public Ministry also participate in the event that takes place in the Minas Gerais capital between 18th and 19th of November.
