The Ambassador in Greece, Eduardo Massieu Paredes, held a meeting with his counterpart, the U.S. Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, Geoffrey R. Pyatt, with whom he talked about the need to get more support in the region for the democratic cause of the Venezuelans.
During the meeting, Pyatt reaffirmed the support of the United States for the legitimacy of Juan Guaidó as president of the National Assembly and interim president of Venezuela, and highlighted the importance of the visit just made by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Washington D.C.
The diplomats discussed the importance of expanding the coalition for the freedom of Venezuela and achieving that in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea more countries recognize the interim government presided by Guaidó as the legitimate government of Venezuela, as Greece has done, since July 12th, 2019. The Hellenic country thus became a stable ally in the region for the free nations of the world.
In addition, Ambassador Massieu reported that they are working together “so that Nicolas Maduro’s regime does not manage to evade the sanctions of the United States by sending oil and mineral resources to buyers in the region.”
