The Ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, greeted the nomination of Brian Nichols as United States Deputy Secretary for the Western Hemisphere this Friday.
“Without a doubt, his career and knowledge of Latin America will be important to face threats such as the Maduro and Cuban regimes which put peace, security and stability in the region at risk,” said the top diplomatic representative of the Legitimate Government in North America.
This Friday, President Joe Biden announced the nomination Mr. Nichols to be the new United States Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere, in what will be a process of renewal of key members of the State Department.
Previously, he was Ambassador to Peru from 2014 to 2017, Principal Deputy Under Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Deputy Under Secretary at INL, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy in Bogotá, Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs of the Caribbean, and Counselor for Political Affairs at the Embassy in Indonesia, Deputy Political Counselor in Mexico, and worked at the UN Office of Political Affairs, among other positions.
