The Ambassador to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, held a meeting with Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz to discuss the crisis in Venezuela.
Amb. Vecchio assured that during the conversation they highlighted the importance of “maintaining focus” on a political transition in the country through free presidential and parliamentary elections.
“We discussed key issues about the crisis in Venezuela, especially a transition through free elections as proposed by President Juan Guaidó in the process of Mexico,” he said through his Twitter account.
He thanked the congresswoman for her permanent support for Venezuelans who are fighting to restore democracy and freedom in the country.
The diplomat has held different meetings with US congressmen and officials in order to reiterate the support of the United States for the democratic struggle that is being waged in Venezuela to get out of the crisis in which Nicolás Maduro’s regime has submerged the country.
