The Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, endorsed the sanctions issued on Monday by the U.S. Treasury Department against Congressmen Luis Parra, Franklyn Duarte, José Brito, Negal Morales, José Noriega, Conrado Pérez and Adolfo Superlano, whom he called “traitors to democracy in Venezuela.”
“The deputies who are traitors to democracy in Venezuela have been sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury, they are traitors to democracy in Venezuela and sold out to Maduro’s dictatorship, staged a failed assault on Parliament and unsuccessfully attempted against the fight for freedom that millions of Venezuelans are giving,” said the ambassador.
Vecchio has been insistent in pointing out that “those who lend themselves to the regime’s manoeuvres and betray the Venezuelan people will receive all the pressure from the international community and the allies of the interim government of President Juan Guaidó in this struggle for the cessation of the usurpation, the exit from the dictatorship and a free Venezuela”.
Vecchio stressed that “although it is true that these 7 officials sanctioned today by the United States were bought by the dirty money of the corruption of Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship, precisely to try to lift the sanctions that the United States and other allies have imposed against those who support the Venezuelan regime, more than 100 deputies of the legitimate National Assembly, counting those who physically voted for the re-election of Juan Guaidó and those who are detained by the regime or in forced exile, have honored their patriotic commitment to the humanitarian cause and the freedom of millions of Venezuelans.
The Ambassador reaffirmed that “in Venezuela there is only one legitimate National Assembly, one legitimate Board of Directors and one legitimate Interim President of Venezuela: Juan Guaidó, and this is recognized by Venezuelans and the free world.”
He thanked the permanent support of President Donald Trump’s administration and the U.S. Congress to force out Maduro’s dictatorship and establish a free Venezuela.
