This Monday the Ambassador to Canada Orlando Viera Blanco launched an international alert after the attempted kidnapping of the President in Charge, Juan Guaidó, the harassment of the President’s family, and the kidnapping of the Deputy Freddy Guevara this afternoon in Caracas.
“These measures by Maduro’s regime are desperate and constitute a flagrant violation of Human Rights, while at the same time they are a political slap in the face to the Mission of the European Community that evaluates conditions for the elections that the regime prepares for November of this year,” Amb. Viera-Blanco assured.
The Venezuelan ambassador affirmed that with these actions, Maduro’s tyranny makes it clear that no one is safe in Venezuela and anyone could be a victim of his henchmen.
The attempted kidnapping was carried out in the President Guaidó’s residence building by unidentified security officials, masked and threatening the use of long weapons.” The subjects used explosives when they tried to kidnap the president and manage to kidnap his driver,” Ambassador Viera Blanco reported.
“Three hours after the kidnapping of Deputy Freddy Guevara, his whereabouts are still unknown,” said Viera Blanco. “We alert about any attempt on his life and integrity.”
The ambassador asked the international community to be alert about this escalation of the dictatorial regime at a time when the international community is supporting negotiated solutions to the serious situation in Venezuela.
