In times of pandemic, solidarity unites us and responsibility saves us. With this premise the Embassy of the Interim Government of Venezuela in Costa Rica and the non-profit association Alianza VenCR promoted the campaign “A hand to our Venezuelan brother” with which they collected donations of food, medicine kits and funds to benefit Venezuelan families in a condition of extreme vulnerability by Covid-19.”
More than 7,700 kilos of food were distributed to supply 430 families for 30 days. In terms of medicines, the figure is 1,800 doses for various pathologies.
On behalf of the Venezuelan Diaspora and President (E) Juan Guaidó, the Venezuelan Ambassador María Faria thanked the initiative of Alianza VenCR, as well as individuals, Venezuelan companies in Costa Rica, the company Cadexco and Verduras y HortalizasJG7 Costa Rica who donated the supplies to make the assistance possible.
The diplomat explained how the process of delivery of the benefits was coordinated with the participation of the Casa de Acogida Ciudad de Paz, which functioned as a collection center.
“We joined forces with the Alianza VenCR Association and initiated a census of vulnerable Venezuelan citizens in Costa Rica through the website of the Embassy of the Interim Government of Venezuela, to know with certainty where they are and what is their condition.”
Faría said that the needs of all Venezuelans are important to the Embassy team and to the people who have joined the donation campaign promoted by the Asociación Alianza VenCR and the Casa de Acogida Ciudad de Paz. However, the gravity of the situation and the number of requests for support, force them to prioritize the delivery of food and medical aid to families with proven conditions of extreme vulnerability.
“We are all exposed and living in a difficult situation, which leads us to raise our sense of responsibility and conscious actions in order to overcome the crisis and be effective and efficient in helping those in conditions of extreme vulnerability. The benefit is aimed at families with all their members unemployed, with elderly people, chronically ill people, newborns and school-age children, in a condition of housing eviction and in a street condition”, emphasized María Faria.
Integrated we contribute more!
Alianza VenCr is an association that integrates the Venezuelan community in Costa Rica, promoting the orderly and legal insertion of Venezuelan migrants who arrive in the Central American country looking for new life alternatives in the face of the crisis and deep deficiencies that currently exist in Venezuela.
Ines Urdaneta, vice-president of Alianza VenCR, reiterated the call for solidarity in order to guarantee more aid.
“We appeal to the good will of those who have the resources to collaborate and thus continue to assist our brothers and sisters. We also trust in the understanding of our fellow countrymen of the limitations that we have and that prevent us from reaching all Venezuelans in Costa Rica. They are not alone, but for humanitarian reasons we must prioritize”.
Through the Campaign “A hand to our Venezuelan brother”, boxes of Humanitarian Aid were delivered in the Provinces: San José, Alajuela, Heredia, Cartago and Puntarenas in response to the call of Families in Jaco, which will be delivered on May 2nd. In San José, were reached more than 10 cantons.
