The Ambassador to Canada, Orlando Viera Blanco, warned that the criminal assault against members of the National Assembly is a criminal act that threatens the lives of parliamentarians.
“Criminal aggression against deputies of the NA is an act of vilification and murder in the degree of attempt,” he said.
Viera Blanco urged the international community to interpret these violent events “as a serious and flagrant threat to the life of President (e) Juan Guaidó and members of the National Assembly, which occurred before the eyes of Venezuela and the world.”
Furthermore, he insisted that the “International Criminal Court remains indifferent to the violence and abuses that are occurring in Venezuela, orchestrated by the Caracas regime.”
“The aggression carried out against President Juan Guaidó, the board of directors of the National Assembly and the deputies, is extremely serious, because it is an attempted assassination executed by the colectivos (armed pro government gangs) and paramilitary groups at the service of Nicolás Maduro’s regime,” he warned.
Finally, he pointed out that this aggression will be taken to all international instances, as a strong evidence of the repression and violation of human rights, while he stated that it is time to act, before it is too late. “I alert the world that President Guaidó’s life and that of the deputies are at risk,” he said.
