Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the United States, Carlos Vecchio, stated this Wednesday after a meeting with the U.S. Congress Caucus for Venezuela, that it was unveiled a plan of Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship, through an armed ambush, to attempt against the life of the Interim President of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, and thus execute the assassination against who is the only legitimate leader.
“The only thing the Maduro’s regime has at hand is violence and weapons. With the videos we have seen, we can affirm that an ambush was set up here to attack and assassinate congressmen and the Interim President of Venezuela. There are sufficient elements to alert the intention of an assassination attempt against President Juan Guaidó,” said Vecchio as he left the meeting with U.S. congressmen.
The Venezuelan ambassador was accompanied by the deputies of the Venezuelan National Assembly in a situation of forced exile, Miguel Pizarro, José Guerra and Juan Andrés Mejía, who met with their American counterparts Mario Díaz-Balart, Donna Shalala and Michael Waltz.
Congressman Guerra explained that “the deputies of the Venezuelan Congress were ambushed by paramilitary bands, with firearms and other blunt objects. They shot at the vehicles to try to kill deputies. These paramilitary bands also attacked the Venezuelan teachers who were going to accompany the Parliament’s session on their day. Maduro is under military siege because he is terrified that the National Assembly will continue to sit in his seat, we denounce that today the Federal Legislative Palace is militarized”.
Vecchio informed that during this meeting with the Venezuela Caucus, they updated the congressmen on the events that have recently occurred in the country, where Maduro’s regime has tried to take over the National Assembly by storm. “We reaffirm that the only legitimate President of the National Assembly and of Venezuela is Juan Guaidó”.
In this sense, he specified that “the only thing the regime has left is aggression, none of that will stop the will of the deputies to sit, the session was carried out. It is up to the international community to condemn and implement actions that will lead to the transition in Venezuela. Our efforts will continue until we achieve the freedom of the Venezuelan people, we cannot do it alone and we need the accompaniment of the international community, especially in actions. When a regime uses repression and violence, it is because the people have lost.”
