The embassy in Chile urged the Venezuelan migrant community to remain calm and refrain from participating in the violent demonstrations that have occurred in recent days.
“We are under a State of Emergency regime, so we reiterate our duty and commitment to respect sovereignty and the rule of law”, the embassy said in a statement
In this regard, the embassy expressed the desire for a prompt solution to the problems that Chile is going through.
The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Chile, in view of the development of the situation, calls on the Venezuelan community resident in the country to remain calm, calm and prudent in these unfortunate moments through which the sister nation Chile is going through.
We ask Venezuelan citizens to refrain from participating in demonstrations that call for violence, reminding them that we are under a State of Emergency regime, which is why we reiterate our duty and commitment to respect sovereignty and the rule of law.
We advocate the prompt solution of the problems that the sister nation is going through and we recognize its legitimate aspiration to maintain a climate of peace, tranquility and harmony in the framework of the law and international treaties.
Likewise, we categorically reject and distance ourselves from any action or citizen, without distinguishing nationality, which has violated the legal system in force in Chile, creating restlessness and anxiety through violence and property damage, without implying to renounce the right to the presumption of innocence, or the requirement of respect for human rights and due process.
We thank the Chilean population for their welcome and reiterate our commitment to collaborate in the development of the country in the framework of freedom, democracy and harmonious coexistence of all.
