The Special Commissioner for Security and Intelligence of the Venezuelan embassy to the US, Iván Simonovis, announced that they are exchanging information with Colombia to identify, locate and reduce guerrilla members in Venezuelan territory.
“We have an excellent relationship with Ambassador Francisco Santos and he in turn has made available to me the necessary contacts within Colombian intelligence agencies, which are also efficient, they have been dealing with these issues for many years. We are articulating information exchange that we are convinced will help identify, locate and reduce those who decide to maintain this revolutionary attitude”, he said.
Simonovis explained that once the members of the FARC and the ELN have been identified and located in Venezuelan territory, “we will see how, in what way can we act to reduce these people, stop them and take them out of the country”.
The commissioner and former political prisoner was confident that there are still institutional officials within the State security agencies that will ensure the sovereignty of Venezuela.
“I am convinced that members of the Armed Forces and the police are clear that these are the enemies and given the circumstances they have to assume a position and must act according to what the law decrees”, he said.
