The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, thanked this Wednesday the support of the Venezuelan National Assembly, for its backing in his re-election as Secretary General of the Organization of American States.
“We are very grateful for the support of the National Assembly. It tells the world that the role of the OAS is central to the re-democratization of Venezuela,” Almagro said through his Twitter account.
Last Tuesday, members of the parliament of the NA voted for the re-election of Ambassador Luis Almagro as Secretary General of the OAS for the period 2020-2025. During his administration, he has courageously maintained the effort to defend Venezuelan democracy and allowed the legitimate and democratic representation of the interim government of President Guaidó, which emerged from the invocation of 233 of the Constitution, to have a voice and vote in the OAS through Ambassador Gustavo Tarre Briceño.
