The Board of Directors of Citgo Petroleum Corporation selected Carlos E. Jordá to serve as Executive Chairman (CEO), after an extensive and exhaustive search process that began earlier this year.
The Citgo Board voted unanimously in the process to elect the new Executive President, following an open and professional process to identify potential candidates among the most qualified Venezuelans with international experience. With the help of a human resources advisory firm that was chosen after considering 3 recognized firms in the international oil sector, thirteen candidates were interviewed, located in Latin America, North America, Europe and the Middle East. From this competitive process, Engineer Carlos Jordá has been selected to fill the position of Executive President (CEO) of Citgo.
Engineer Jordá has a deep knowledge of Citgo and its key factors, which comes from his previous role as President of PDV América and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Citgo. He is a chemical engineer with 5 decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, ranging from refining, corporate planning, finance and production. During these 5 decades, Jordá held several leadership positions within Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA), both in the United States and Venezuela, including the supervision of PDVSA refining and commercialization operations.
In the last 16 years he has served as a consultant, including the firm Gaffney, Cline and Associates, advising large companies and investors in the oil and gas industry worldwide, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Delek US Holdings Inc, an American refining and commercialization company.
“The Board was looking for an Executive President with solid professional experience in operations and who could guide Citgo during this unprecedented moment. His deep understanding of the oil industry, not only in refining, but at all levels of the production chain, his experience with the best corporate governance practices, his knowledge of the company, the key players and the geopolitical landscape in which the company operates, they make Carlos Jordá the right candidate for the position”, said the President of the Board of Directors of Citgo, Luisa Palacios.
