The president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Gabriela Cuevas, on Thursday condemned the ambush and attack that paramilitaries of Maduro’s dictatorship carried out against deputies of the National Assembly.
“I have been informed of the attack against Deputies Delsa Solorzano, Prosperi, Berrizbeitia and the Secretary of the Venezuelan Chamber of Deputies,” Cuevas denounced on her official Twitter account.
The Mexican senator assured that it is a “state’s obligation to provide security,” while condemning the attack. “Total repudiation of the violence that is being exercised to try to silence the voices of the opposition.”
“It is urgent to respect the Constitution and human rights in Venezuela. A serious, plural and inclusive dialogue is needed to allow the country to return to a democratic course,” she said.
“Violence is never an option. Beyond ideologies, it is urgent that the persecution ends,” said the Mexican senator.
