The Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, emphasized this Thursday that Nicolas Maduro’s regime manages Venezuela as a correctional facility.
“It seems that he leads something that looks more like a drug cartel than a government,” he said during an interview with El Nuevo Herald.
He also assured that Venezuelans would never again trust those who make up the dictatorship.
“They will no longer support Maduro and his thugs as leaders,” he said.
Pompeo also explained that the U.S. has requested a bill to hold free elections in Venezuela. “When the Venezuelan people get this, we can start rebuilding this great democracy and its economy,” he concluded.
