U.S. Vice President Mike Pence repudiated the actions of Maduro’s regime and its cronies against democracy and the rule of law in Venezuela.
Through a message in his Twitter account, the U.S. official condemned the incursion of an armed paramilitary group of the dictatorship against the national headquarters of the political party Voluntad Popular.
“Maduro and his gang of thugs continue to repress democracy. Yesterday’s raid on President Guaidó’s party headquarters is reprehensible and shows how weak and paranoid they are. Maduro has no respect for liberty (#libertad) or the rule of law and he must go,” Pence said.
Similarly, the U.S. Vice President urged the Venezuelan military to take the side of the Venezuelan people who demand change and freedom.
“We urge the Venezuelan military to join the Venezuelan people, not a despot. The Venezuelan army should be a force for good! The power to change for the better is in your hands,” he concluded.
