U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reported that the United States, along with its allies in the Western Hemisphere, will put additional pressure on the authorities of Venezuela’s illegitimate regime.
“Everyone should know that more action is coming. Nicolas Maduro certainly knows that we are serious,” Pompeo said.
During his speech at the Organization of American States (OAS), Pompeo said Venezuelan officials who have boycotted the country’s transition to democracy will be punished. The Secretary of State praised the OAS for joining the U.S. efforts for the definitive removal of Nicolás Maduro from power.
Since January 2019, when Nicolás Maduro unconstitutionally assumed a new mandate, tensions over Venezuela have grown. Since then, an unprecedented union in the hemisphere was born, with joint efforts to recover the country.
