Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno on Monday called for a “viable democratic solution” to the political crisis facing Venezuela because of the “authoritarian and dictatorial” regime of Nicolás Maduro. Likewise, the Ecuadorian leader reiterated his support to the President (E) of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó.
“Ecuador, a supportive country as it is, has welcomed some 400,000 Venezuelans and granted a humanitarian visa to 160,000. This is the attitude of a brother country but at the same time we demand (…) a viable democratic solution for democracy in Venezuela,” Moreno told AFP.
President (E) Guaidó participated in the Third Hemispheric Ministerial Conference on the Fight against Terrorism in Bogotá, Colombia. There, he will denounce, before representatives of several countries, the threat posed to the region and the world by Nicolás Maduro’s regime.
Guaidó said that in the case of Venezuela “there is an issue of protection, the Venezuelan dictatorship protects ELN terrorism and its direct and indirect financing with Venezuelan gold, also called blood gold.”
