The president of Parlatino, Jorge Pizarro, expressed his rejection of the interference of Nicolás Maduro’s regime in the decision making of the Venezuelan Legislative Assembly.
“Once again, Maduro does not respect the instance, the only democratic organism that has popular legitimacy in that country. That is why I regret that a division has been generated, which only succeeds in maintaining Maduro’s authoritarian regime and further hinders the possibility of a democratic solution ratified by the Venezuelan people,” he said.
Also, Senator Pizarro insisted that “from the Parlatino we ratify our support to reach a meeting point that helps to get out of this serious crisis and we offer once again our collaboration to help build an agreement that allows free, informed elections, with secret vote, and where there is total transparency and absolute legitimacy in the election process.
“We believe it is important to highlight the need for a broad process that will bring the country out of this political, institutional, economic and social crisis that has become a drama for the daily lives of Venezuelans. Once again our commitment to democracy, freedom, people’s rights and, of course, the need for the Venezuelan people themselves to decide their future in a peaceful and democratic manner,” he concluded.
