The secretary of the International Relations Area of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, Hector Gomez, expressed this Saturday to Venezuelan President Juan Guaidó “the unwavering support and recognition of the Socialist Party as the president in charge.”
In an appearance after a brief meeting at Casa de América, where he received the president in charge, Gómez assured Guaidó that the “indisputable and non-negotiable” support of the PSOE coincides with that of the government and reminded him that President Pedro Sánchez has led the process in Europe to bring Venezuela to elections with full guarantees.
“This is not the first time we have denounced the actions of Nicolas Maduro’s regime in Europe. We reaffirm our commitment, together with other countries, to bring Venezuela to a democratic process,” he said.
Mr Gómez has promised Guaidó to establish “closer ties” and said that this week there have already been contacts between the President in charge and the head of the European Socialists, Iratxe García, and the High Representative Josep Borrell.
“Today we are here to support Guaidó, our commitment is real. We will continue to work hand in hand, we are in contact with the Ambassador and from now on with the President in charge,” he added.
