The Republican senator for the state of Florida, Rick Scott, compared the Venezuelan crisis fueled by Nicolás Maduro’s regime with the Nazi holocaust. Scott said “another genocide is happening” in Venezuela.
“Maduro is killing children. I went to Cúcuta, I saw it. I saw those poor children starving. It is disgusting what he is doing”, the legislator told Voice of America.
The senator recalled that everything possible should be done to get Nicolás Maduro out of power, which is why he gave great importance to the sanctions that the United States (USA) has implemented.
Similarly, Scott questioned “the lack of action” of the United Nations (UN) to contribute to a peaceful transition. “The UN sitting with crossed arms. The United Nations is sitting watching a genocide happen”, he added.
On the other hand, he mentioned the measures being studied to put more pressure on the regime: “The military option is very important, but President Trump does not want to go to war. I don’t think he wants a war, but we have the option on the table, and we have to see how to get Maduro out”, said the senator.
Scott stressed the food crisis and rejects that Maduro’s dictatorship seeking to blame the economic sanctions implemented on his regime.
“Maduro is killing people since before the economic sanctions. This is our only opportunity. We have to do everything we can, that is, it is our only chance, what else can we do?”, he concluded.
