The Secretary of the U.S. Department of State, Mike Pompeo, confirmed on Saturday his support to the government in charge of President Juan Guaidó.
“Juan Guaidó personifies the struggle of the Venezuelan people and the hope of restoring democracy, and we support him as the leader of this struggle,” he said through his personal Twitter account.
Similarly, Pompeo called on all democratic nations worldwide to maintain their support for Guaidó and the National Assembly (NA): “We call on all nations to support him and the National Assembly as they work to peacefully restore democracy to the Venezuelan people.
The United States has been one of the countries that has most supported the democratic movement that Venezuela is currently experiencing.
Recently, the Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, Michael Kozak, reiterated the White House’s support for President (E) Juan Guaidó as president of the transition executive and said he had no doubts that Guaidó would be reelected as President of the NA.
