The Coordinator of the OAS Secretary General for the crisis of migrants and refugees, David Smolansky, pronounced himself after this Sunday the ArmandoInfo news website published a report pointing out corruption involving deputies of the National Assembly and members of Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship.
Smolansky said those involved in CLAP’s corruption network, which caused the death of millions of Venezuelans, must be brought to trial before international justice.
“All those involved, regardless of their colour (political party), in the CLAP corruption network, which has caused the death, malnutrition and exodus of millions of people, should be sanctioned internationally to do justice in the face of impunity in Venezuela,” he said through his official Twitter account.
In the morning hours, the president in charge of the Republic, Juan Guaidó, assured that he will take measures in relation to the corruption scandal. “We’re not going to cover up anyone’s crimes: forget about it,” said the president.
The portal Armando.Info, specialized in investigative journalism, published this Sunday December 1st a report revealing the alleged complicity of some opposition deputies in the case of corruption in the Local Committees of Supply and Production (CLAP).
In the report it was pointed out that the parliamentarians, militants of the parties Primero Justicia, Voluntad Popular, Un Nuevo Tiempo, Cambiemos and the 16 de Julio fraction, allegedly lent themselves to favor and make “informal efforts” to businessmen like Carlos Lizcano, president of Salva Foods (company that manages the CLAP stores), who is also one of the main contractors of Nicolás Maduro’s regime.
