The representative of the legitimate government to the OAS, Gustavo Tarre, highlighted the participation of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the organization, where he ratified that the United States and allied countries are planning new actions against Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
Tarre assured that Pompeo’s participation helped to reinforce the support of the North American country to the organization and to Juan Guaidó, as the president in charge of Venezuela before the international community. He also emphasized the importance of Luis Almagro remaining as the head of the OAS.
“The OAS, for a long time, was a kind of social club where ambassadors met to discuss the ‘sex of the angels’ and did not talk about the underlying political problems of the continent. That’s what Almagro has achieved in his four years in office,” said the Venezuelan diplomat.
The representative of the interim government also confessed that the democratic countries of the world have been amazed at the capacity of resistance that the Venezuelan dictatorship has had, despite the actions taken against it.
“We did not expect that all the blockade that against PDVSA and all the sanctions that were taken were going to be subverted by way of the Russian supporters. Nobody thought either about the illegal mining, that the destruction and ecological catastrophe that the south of Venezuela is experiencing was going to allow billions of dollars to serve the dictatorship”, pointed out Gustavo Tarre.
