Costa Rica got to know the Country Plan (Plan País) for the reconstruction of Venezuela in the framework of the forum “Situación de Venezuela, Rostros y oportunidades para el Desarrollo Social” (Situation of Venezuela, Faces and Opportunities for Social Development).
During the event, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Antonio da Silvia, referred to the humanitarian crisis state in Venezuela and its influence in the dynamics of the countries of the region and presented his country’s experience with the execution of Operation Shelter for Venezuelan migration, while the honorable Miguel Arvelo, Chief of Staff of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), presented the food emergency situation in the nation.
In this context, the Ambassador designated by President Guaidó, María Faría, the International Coordinator of Plan País, Darío Ramírez, Aquiles Hopkins, and Deputy Alexis Paparoni presented before the diplomatic corps accredited in Costa Rica and the Costa Rican authorities the proposal whose main objective is the stabilization of the economy, the elimination of the controls that subjugate Venezuelans and suffocate the productive apparatus, the development of a model that promotes entrepreneurship as a social force, stimulates production, protects private property and workers’ rights.
During the meeting, two specific points were discussed in greater depth: The potentialities of food production and tourism, presented by Aquiles Hopkins and Angelo Palmieri, technical coordinators of the Agrifood and Tourism tables of Plan País, respectively.
Costa Rican legislator Karine Niño, member of the Permanent Commission on International Relations and Foreign Trade of the Legislative Assembly, participated as a representative of Costa Rica in the panel, and spoke about the threats to democracy in Latin America.
Alexis Paparoni, deputy to the National Assembly of Venezuela, offered a closing message, in which he detailed the legislative, political and diplomatic achievements of the NA during the last years and reiterated his gratitude to the countries around the world that recognize the legitimate government of Juan Guaidó and show their solidarity towards the Venezuelan people.
