The US Treasury Department announced new sanctions against the Cuban regime for to the support they have given to the usurping dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.
These new sanctions imposed by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) are aimed at further restricting exports and re-exports of products to the island.
The leasing of aircraft to airlines owned by the Cuban regime is prohibited. The exceptions to aircraft and ship licenses also change, to clarify that they are not eligible to exception if they are leased or rented as charter by a Cuban citizen or a state that sponsors terrorism.
Likewise, re-exports to Cuba will be denied to any product that contains 10% of devices made in the United States.
In addition, donations to Cuba will be prohibited, with the exception of “Support to the Cuban People” licenses and the authorization to export telecommunications equipment to the island is eliminated.
