The spokeswoman for the US Department of State, Morgan Ortagus, urged the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro to end the serious human rights violations in Venezuela after the update of the report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet.
“Michelle Bachelet’s presentation at @UNHumanRights demonstrates that Maduro has not attended to the recommendations of her July report, but has continued with human rights violations, including torture and extrajudicial executions”, Ortagus said in a message through the Twitter social network.
“These atrocities must cease immediately”
Human Right Violations on the Rise
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, lamented Monday that the regime of Nicolás Maduro has not complied with the recommendations of her office to dissolve the Special Actions Force (Faes), “on the contrary, it has received support from the highest power in government.”
“In the past month of July alone, the NGO Monitor de Víctimas registered 57 cases of alleged executions of the Faes in Caracas. The documented cases present the same patterns registered in the June report and reveal the absence of mechanisms to protect the victims”, she said in the Human Rights Council during the update of her report.
In addition, Bachelet reported that the usurper’s regime has committed other human rights violations in recent months, such as the application of torture or subjecting the population to living in conditions of misery without access to basic food or medical services.
