The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) opened this Sunday what it described as the “biggest fundraising appeal for children in Latin America and the Caribbean” which is aimed at children and adolescents in Venezuela.
“Venezuela requires 153.2 million dollars,” the nonprofit organization announced through its official Twitter account.
According to the organization, 900,000 children in Venezuela need humanitarian assistance. The money raised by UNICEF will allow the most needy children to have access to vaccines, treatments for severe malnutrition, educational materials and clean drinking water.
Likewise, the money collected will be kept for children and adolescents in schools to keep them away from violence. “Venezuelan children need us more than ever,” says the donations page.
