The democratic parties of the National Assembly (NA) confirmed on Tuesday their support for President Juan Guaidó to continue leading the parliament and remain as President in Charge of Venezuela from January 5th, 2020 on.
Carabobo state deputy Carlos Berrizbeitia, who is part of the Proyecto Venezuela party, recalled that last September a group of democratic parties, all represented in the NA, publicly said they wanted to ratify Juan Guaidó as president of Parliament and interim president of Venezuela. He also reaffirmed his position weeks before the start of the new term:
“Today, December 10th, a few weeks before January 5th, the ratification of Juan Guaidó as president of the NA and interim president is armored. More than 27 political parties, as well as the majority of the deputies who represent these parties from all over the country, are backing Juan Guaidó so that he can be ratified on January 5th.
The parliamentarian stressed that there is no doubt that Guaidó is the “absolute leader in this historic moment that the country lives. He also explained that this support and ratification of the political sector joins all sectors of the country and that this will serve as an impulse to fight and achieve the free and democratic Venezuela that the majority of Venezuelans want.”
For her part, the congresswoman for the state of Miranda and the Citizen Encounter party, Delsa Solórzano, stressed that: “Juan Guaidó has the support of the entire democratic bench of the NA to be ratified in the presidency of the NA.”
