The first vice-president of the National Assembly, Juan Pablo Guanipa, congratulated Ornella Gómez, a student at the School of Nursing at the University of Los Andes, on Thursday after being elected as the new president of the Federation of University Centers (FCU, Federation of Student Unions).
“A worthy representative of the Venezuelan youth and students, who are a clear example of courage, bravery and conviction in the country,” said Guanipa in a message published through his official Twitter account.
The electoral process marked by several irregularities between delays in installing the voting tables, incidents between representatives of the participating coalitions and, despite this, the coalition Ulandinos managed to occupy the two main positions to both the presidency and the deputy presidency.
The Electoral Commission of the University of Los Andes issued a bulletin in the early hours of Thursday morning with the official results that gave Ornella Gomez the victory:
Ornella Gomez: 3503 votes.
Pulido Roger: 589 votes.
Ramírez Carlos: 2884 votes.
The Federation of University Centers of the University of the Andes had at least five years without holding a student election.
