The deputy of the National Assembly, Adriana Pichardo, denounced this Saturday that behind the kidnapping of the parliamentarian Gilber Caro, there is a plan of Maduro’s dictatorship to mount a pot (fabricate charges) against him.
Pichardo revealed that Congressman Caro, at the time of his kidnapping by officials of the dictatorship, was eating with the journalist Victor Ugas – also arrested – and without any kind of weapons.
“They took out some boxes with some alleged explosives. What they didn’t achieve with Operation Scorpion, they now want to achieve by putting together a pot (…) The international community must be clear about this, they are attacking the empty seats (seats without substitutes) inside the National Assembly,” Pichardo said at a press conference.
In this sense, Pichardo warned the Venezuelan people that “this procedure could be repeated so that we don’t get the (number of) votes” to re-elect Juan Guaidó to the National Assembly on January 5th.
Caro’s lawyer, Ana Leonor Acosta, demanded his immediate release and to be able to communicate with his client.
“Yesterday we witnessed an arbitrary arrest, without showing any kind of order, but in addition to this, in a violent manner (…) Until now none of the detainees have been able to communicate with their lawyers,” she remarked.
