The deputy of the National Assembly for the state Mérida, Williams Dávila Barrios, referred on Tuesday to the conflict that Nicolás Maduro’s cabinet is trying to create around the Essequibo territory, reiterating that it was Chavez himself who said that relations would not be clouded up with Guyana.
In that sense, Dávila said that they will try to “dismantle the false positive of the regime to accuse President (E) Juan Guaidó of wanting to hand over the Essequibo”, reiterating that Venezuela has not recognized jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice.
The Andean legislator also described the leader of the ruling party as a “provocateur” who wants to create conflict on the border. “I would not be surprised by a border impasse, that’s why they activated the Defense Council, we fought to take power away from the dictatorship, they are traitors: they handed over the homeland to armed groups”, he reiterated.
The political leader said that the National Assembly will defend territorial integrity in the presence of the National Liberation Army (ELN), for this he insisted on the need for a new political system and new government in addition to the ratification of Juan Guaido as legitimate President of Venezuela and head of the National Assembly.
Maduro’s regime opened an investigation against the president in charge Juan Guaido together with the Venezuelan ambassador to the United Kingdom, Vanessa Neumann and the advisor Manuel Avendaño. Confronting the possibility of criminal consequences, the deputy for the Democratic Action party said that “the constitutional spurious (parallel assembly) could apply a legal and structural modification to extend the legal concept of treason”.
He explained that those who usurp power are the first traitors because they delivered Venezuela to armed groups, linked even to drug trafficking, handed over sovereignty in the case of the Essequibo and now are the ones who betray the constitution and are traitors to the homeland.
In this regard, during his right to speak at the extraordinary session held on Tuesday, he urged the plenary of the legitimate Legislative Power to declare Nicolás Maduro a traitor to the homeland.
