In the opinion of the deputy for the Lara state, Macario González, the governor of that entity, Carmen Meléndez, must inform Venezuelans about the “mysterious” visit of former Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa to Barquisimeto.
The legislator of the Joint Defense and Internal Policy Commission of the National Assembly (AN), which investigates the presence of irregular and other criminal groups on the Venezuelan border and coordinator of the Lara Parliamentary Block, said Thursday that the complaint of the Ecuadoran deputy Juan Francisco Flores about Correa’s presence in that region, involves the regional governor in many questions that deserve an answer.
He insisted that the complaint takes force, “if we remember the famous case of Vladimiro Montesinos Torres, who also entered the country under similar conditions” the spokesperson recalled.
“Now the same is said of the presence of Correa”. To clarify these doubts, it should be investigated the serious accusations Flores makes about that meeting that was reported by the networks and media and that nobody knows what they dealt about”, said Gonzalez.
Furthermore, he reiterated that an investigation should be opened, since “it is a very serious case in which Correa would could de indicted for allegedly being involved in corruption during his administration.”
“Now, he is involved in acts of destabilization and violent events that Ecuador is experiencing in protests against Lenin Moreno’s government”, González said.
He said that for this reason, Governor Meléndez, should make a statement. “What should not be done is to remain silent, because they have also linked the Venezuelan government to financing a coup against Lenin Moreno’s administration”, he concluded.
