Alfonso Marquina, deputy to the National Assembly for the state of Lara and member of the Finance Commission, denounced this Tuesday in the chamber that the 2020 budget for the Legislative Power presents a deficit of 98%.
“Today we must approve a budget that only represents 2% of the payroll of the National Assembly (…) We approve it so that it does not become the excuse of the regime to leave the employees of parliament without salaries,” he argued.
The amount allocated to cover the demand of the 5,044 active, pensioned and retired workers, plus the operating expenses of the Legislative Power is 44,789,478,436 bolívares, and the requested amount was 1,849,571,730,453 bolívares, hence the deficit of 98%.
“Maduro in his determination to bring the gates down to parliament continues and to financially suffocate those who are still standing, maintaining their jobs and dreaming of changing Venezuela,” he said.
“We don’t give up, every step we take is to alleviate the suffering of Venezuelans, which is the fault of those who in a bad time usurp power,” he said. The miseries of the usurper regime goes to the extreme of punishing more than 5,000 families, employees, workers, professionals and retirees with the intention of silencing the legitimate representation of the Venezuelan people, which is expressed in the NA.
