Representatives of various democratic parties expressed their full support and backing to Juan Guaidó, to continue exercising his duties as president of the National Assembly and in charge of Venezuela until the usurpation maintained by the regime ceases.
The announcement was made by the National Assembly deputy and member of the Project Venezuela (PV) party, Carlos Berrizbeitia, who read a document expressing support for Juan Guaidó, describing his motives and inviting other parties that make a living both inside and outside parliament to join this initiative.
“We decided to support Juan Guaidó to remain in his position as president of the National Assembly and therefore President in Charge of the Republic, until the usurpation of the tyrant in Miraflores ceases. Our interest is to clear any type of doubt that could occur about the presidency of the National Assembly for the year 2020 and we clarify that this decision does not respond to personal egos, but we do it because we believe in unity and consider that this is the action that Venezuela needs right now.”
Among the parties that supported the pronouncement are: Copeí legítimo ODCA, Proyecto Venezuela, Cuentas Claras, Fuerza Liberar, Unidos para Venezuela, Causa R, Unidad NOE, Moverse, Movimiento Republicano, PDUPL, Izquierda Democrática y Parlinve (Indígena Nacional) Proyecto Carabobo, Tison (Anzoátegui), GuajiraVen (Zulia), Aprisal (Zulia), Sociedad del Zulia y Cuentas Claras.
“The political governance agreement that the parties that are part of the unity coalition agreeed to make this decision for the unity and freedom of the country. We ask the democratic forces that make life inside and outside the National Assembly to adhere to this document and give their absolute support to Juan Guaidó. The document will be sent to the secretariat of the Legislative Power, so that it can be discussed in an extraordinary session and a national agreement can be reached.”
Berrizbeitia, said that in addition to aspiring that the document be discussed in the plenary of parliament, they will meet with the Frente Amplio Venezuela Libre to expand its scope.
The National Directorate member of the legitimate Copei, Rogelio Díaz, affirmed that it is not the time of partisanship, but of patriotism, so the Venezuelan population can be certain that it has a solid Unity. “That is why we ratify our total support for Juan Guaidó, we are aligned, incorporated into change and committed to the cessation of usurpation and the struggle for freedom of Venezuela.”
Finally, the president of the Liberal Front, Haydee Deutsch, emphasized that the agreement in support of Guaidó is signed by parties that have more than 20 years in the fight for the freedom of the country, so in her opinion it is not about improvisations. “We have many years on this road and we are aware of the historical moment we live, so we recognize the importance that Juan Guaidó has for change, we tell him that we are not going to leave him alone and just as 60 countries of the world recognize him, we will give our recognition and total support to the president of the National Assembly and Venezuela.”
Today, September 5, 2019, various political organizations that represent the majority of the emerging democratic forces of the Unity and the National Parliament want to express to the country the following:
1. The cessation of usurpation is an urgent need for our people and the peoples of the world. The drama that our people suffer is unbearable. Nicolas Maduro and his usurper regime are the greatest threat that our people and the security of the region have, as evidenced by the very serious humanitarian crisis that our people are experiencing, the grave violations of human rights and the support and protection of terrorist and criminal groups that are carried out from the usurped power.
2. The struggle that started on January 23, 2019 has generated the greatest progress in the history of our democratic struggle against the tyrannical regime of Nicolás Maduro. The pressure of our brave people, together with the unrestricted support of the democracies of the world, have managed to corner a dictatorship that today is more isolated than ever, resorting to violence as the only means to hold barely in power.
3. The parties that represent the majority of those who are responsible for assuming the Presidency of the National Assembly for the year 2020, according to the Parliamentary Governance Agreement signed by the Bureau of Democratic Unity on December 15, 2015, we believe that our The country deserves that we all put Venezuela above any personal aspiration. This is the moment in which we must leave our private projects aside to put national interest ahead.
4. Therefore, we want to communicate to the people of Venezuela a decision of great relevance in order to generate certainty, dispel doubts and discard any type of distraction that could weaken the strategy to achieve the cessation of usurpation.
We decide to support Juan Guaidó as President of the National Assembly and, therefore, President (E) of the Republic until the end of the usurpation.
Juan Guaidó has courageously led a fight that has earned him the recognition of almost 60 countries and the unrestricted support of the people of Venezuela. The legitimate President has managed to unite a country around a cause that, at times, seemed to faint before the brutality of a criminal regime, and has given hope and guidance to the struggle that as Venezuelans we decided to undertake until we win.
At this point, knowing that we still have a way to go, with the international community on the side of those who defend democracy, with much of our assets abroad protected by the Legitimate Government, with a manifest discontent in the Armed Forces National and large examples of division within the dictatorship, we are convinced that the best option today to end this catastrophe is to clear any uncertainty about the future of the Legitimate Presidency and support the leadership of President Guaidó.
It is important to clarify to the country that this announcement cannot be understood as a claudication in the objective we have set ourselves to free Venezuela as soon as possible, or a postponement of the objective for next year. Although we must be prepared for all scenarios, we believe that to boost the actions, decisions, commitments and agreements that need to be taken immediately, inside and outside Venezuela, President Guaido must have the greatest strength, support and necessary stability. This is why today the signatory political parties, we announce our decision to support Juan Guaidó as President of the National Assembly and President (E) of the Republic until the usurpation ceases and at the same time that we request the rest of democratic forces and our National Assembly to adhere to this call for unity to strengthen our struggle at a time as delicate as this one in our country.
