The Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Julio Borges, held a meeting with the Chancellor of the Czech Republic, Tomas Petricek, to thank him for his support for the humanitarian assistance of Venezuelans in Colombia and request greater pressure from Europe against Nicolás Maduro’s regime. Also, during the meeting, Petricek said that his country will maintain a firm position against the Venezuelan dictatorship.
“It is necessary for Europe to join the pressure measures that the Lima Group and the United States have implemented. The only way to stop the drama that the Venezuelan people suffer is with the departure from power of Nicolás Maduro”, said Borges.
The representative of foreign policy of the government of Juan Guaidó thanked the support of the Czech Republic for Venezuelan refugees. “We appreciate your solidarity, countries need more international cooperation to be able to help Venezuelans fleeing the humanitarian crisis generated by Maduro’s dictatorship”, he said.
For his part, the chancellor of the Czech Republic, Tomas Petricek, said his country will continue to pressure Maduro from the European Union. “For us the issue of Venezuela is very sensitive, it reminds us of what we lived during the era of Soviet communism, we are going to continue cooperating with the Venezuelan people and taking action against Maduro from international instances such as the EU”, he said.
Petricek held a meeting yesterday with Colombian Foreign Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo where he pledged to support the humanitarian assistance that the Colombian State provides to Venezuelans who arrive fleeing the humanitarian tragedy.
