The Presidential Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Julio Borges, thanked former Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland for her support of the Venezuelan democratic movement led by President Juan Guaidó.
“Our gratitude to Chrystia Freeland, who until yesterday served as Canada’s chancellor. We appreciate her efforts to achieve freedom in Venezuela,” Borges said through his personal Twitter account.
The Commissioner also congratulated Francois-Philippe Champagne, who is the new Canadian Chancellor. “We look forward to working together and continuing to have the support for the Venezuelan people’s struggle,” he added.
Canada has been one of the main democratic allies that has promoted strategies against Nicolas Maduro’s regime to achieve the cessation of usurpation.
