The president in charge of Venezuela, Juan Guaidó, gave a press conference from Colombia on Monday as part of the Third Hemispheric Conference on the Fight against Terrorism.
The president assured that his international tour aims to establish alliances with the democratic countries of the world in order to confront and stop the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro.
Guaidó said that some of the key points in the meetings he will have during his tour will be to set strategies to prevent gold smuggling, deepen (insights) on the migration issue and further encircle the dictatorship through sanctions.
“We want to achieve that gold exploitation in the Orinoco Mining Arc be catalogued as what it is, blood gold. Through the Mining Arc, terrorists and irregular groups are financed, which has not only caused the displacement of indigenous ethnic groups, but also the ecocide of the area and the death of dozens of innocent people,” said the Venezuelan President.
Likewise, the head of state said that Maduro’s regime has direct links with terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, ELN and FARC, while indicating that they move around in Venezuelan territory at will.
Guaidó said that “the country not only faces the danger of terrorism,” but also lives in a constant war through hyperinflation, migration crisis, scarcity and dictatorship.”
Thanks to Duque and Grupo de Lima
The President of the Republic expressed his gratitude to the Lima Group and to the President of Colombia, Iván Duque, for the work they have done in favor of Venezuela, not only helping the Venezuelan people with regard to the migration problem, but also by exerting pressure through their governments to achieve the cesation of the dictatorship.
Finally, he indicated that “he has no doubt that Maduro’s regime will fall and therefore, Venezuela will have free, transparent elections as established in the constitution”.
