The President of the Republic, Juan Guaidó, supported the words of Colombian President Ivan Duque during the 30th Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Inter-American Treaty of Reciprocal Aid (TIAR).
“I endorse the words of Colombian President Iván Duque at the TIAR meeting. Maduro’s dictatorship represents and protects a criminal structure that threatens our region,” Guaidó said through his personal Twitter account.
The President of the National Assembly (AN) also urged the countries that make up TIAR to act in a “cohesive manner in defense of our peoples”.
During the meeting of representatives from the region, President Duque explained that the consultation which looks to apply the TIAR treaty is caused by “a situation in the region that constitutes a threat, a risk and merits effective action by all of us.”
“What has happened in the sister Republic of Venezuela and regrettable, we have seen a shameful dictatorship that has severely annihilated individual freedoms and fundamental rights of its citizens,” said Duque during his speech at the meeting.
