The Interim Government of Venezuela denounces before the Venezuelan people, the international community, democrats of the world and the Armed Forces that Maduro’s regime is preventing, through the State security forces, the access of deputies to the seat of the National Assembly in Caracas.
The aim of the dictatorship is to hinder the vote to select the new leadership of the National Assembly and the re-election of Juan Guaidó as president of parliament and head of the Republic. Likewise, we warn the countries and organizations of the free world about the maneuver of the regime to elect a directive formed by a group of deputies linked to acts of corruption.
It should be noted that there are 49 Members of Parliament affected by persecution measures by Maduro’s dictatorship, many of whom are currently in exile and others are being held in prison for defending democracy. All these acts of the dictatorship have been carried out in clear violation of Article 200 of the Constitution, which expressly states the condition of parliamentary immunity enjoyed by deputies.
Despite the attacks, the deputies of the parliament and the Venezuelan people continue to resist. We call on the countries to monitor the situation and to be vigilant of any abuses by Maduro’s dictatorship
