The presidential commissioner for the Government Center, Leopoldo López, repudiated the kidnapping of Congressman Gilber Caro, who was detained by police officers of Maduro’s dictatorship.
“Maduro, you are a coward! Since you don’t have the support of the people and you don’t have the votes in the NA, you send your henchmen to put in jail the deputies you couldn’t buy,” said López in a public message on his Twitter account.
“Your desperate actions are not going to break our will or that of the people,” added the Venezuelan political leader.
Caro’s arrest follows the failure of Operation Scorpion, which sought to buy the votes of deputies committed to change, and thus prevent Venezuelan President Juan Guaidó from being re-elected to the National Assembly on Jan. 5th.
