The Venezuelan President in charge, Juan Guaidó, thanked the Organization of American States (OAS) for its support to the interim government and its commitment to the Venezuelan democratic cause.
The President assured that 20 countries of the Organization ratified their support and condemned the attempt of the dictatorship to take over the National Assembly with violence.
“20 OAS countries ratify their support for Venezuela’s cause and condemn the dictatorship’s attempt to take the national parliament by force. We are grateful for the strong support of the international community for the Venezuelans. #ElMundoFirmeConVzla,” he said.
The OAS approved a resolution that condemns the “use of force” in the Venezuelan Parliament by Nicolás Maduro’s government, recognizes opposition leader Juan Guaidó as head of the Legislative and calls for new presidential elections in the country.
The initiative was adopted by 20 of the 34 active members of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States.
