The President (E) of the Republic, Juan Guaidó, thanked on Friday the support of the President of Paraguay, Mario Abdo, who is in a diplomatic tour of the United States (USA).
“We thank him for all his support and strengthen our ties with our brother country,” Guaidó said through his personal Twitter account.
Abdo met this afternoon with Venezuelan Ambassador to the U.S. Carlos Vecchio at the emissary’s Washington residence. During the official meeting, Vecchio highlighted the Paraguayan president’s support for the Venezuelan democracy cause promoted by Guaidó and the entire National Assembly.
Paraguay is one of the main allies of the democratic movement maintained by Guaidó. Abdo’s government was the first to ignore Maduro’s dictatorship and expel its officials from Paraguayan territory. It was also one of the first administrations to recognize the validity of expired Venezuelan passports.
