The Children’s Oncology area of the Doctor Modesto Rivero González Oncology Therapeutic Unit, on Margarita Island, cannot provide the needed therapies to around 26 patients, due to lack of air conditioning and essential supplies such as intravenous drips, syringes and other basic supplies.
Cargina Romero, coordinator of the Children’s Oncology service of the Island, emphasized that air conditioning is essential for patients to receive their therapies. Adequate ventilation prevents the poisoning of both the patient, its relatives and the area staff, which is a primary element in the health center.
“Patients cannot receive chemotherapy in a closed area without ventilation that can allow the extraction of gases that chemotherapy can emit. Some patients will have part of the medications, others will have it complete as is the protocol. However, supplies such as syringes, IV drips and solution 09, which are part of the treatment, are lacking”, Romero explained.
The usurper Nicolás Maduro’s regime has not been attending this type of medical centers for years. The health of citizens is not a priority for the dictator.
For its part, the legitimate government of President (E) Juan Guaidó, seeks solutions so that, while the cessation of usurpation arrives, humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most.
