The Special Prosecutor of the Republic, José Hernández, welcomed the statement of the Office for the Control of Foreign Assets (OFAC) regarding blocked assets belonging to Venezuela, including Citgo.
“OFAC has just clarified that no creditor can execute judicially or advance similar legal actions against blocked Venezuelan assets,” Hernandez said via his personal Twitter account.
The attorney general also stressed that the protection of the country’s assets “is increasingly solid” thanks to the actions of the government of President (E) Juan Guaidó.
While the nation’s assets were in the hands of Nicolás Maduro’s regime, the production and shares of many companies were negatively affected. However, with the work carried out by the interim government, the performance of the companies has improved.
For example, nine months after the President in Charge appointed CITGO’s Board of Directors, CITGO reported an improvement in its operations and its ability to respond to market demands.
