The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, condemned Nicolas Maduro’s dictatorship and warned that there are fewer and fewer democratic spaces in Venezuela.
“The democratic spaces are reduced more and more. It is a nation that we have under our sights,” said Bachellet.
In this regard, she noted that they have closely monitored the persecution of civilians and politicians. “Venezuela is a country that has been under international scrutiny, with respect to the situation of human rights.”
Finally, the High Commissioner referred to the serious crisis the country is going through. “The economic situation is quite tragic, complex, it was before, but it has been worsened by the pandemic. There is a major humanitarian crisis, a major migration crisis”.
