Chilean President Sebastián Piñera expressed this Tuesday his support for the formation of a transitional government in Venezuela and condemned Maduro’s dictatorship for the crimes against humanity it has committed against the Venezuelan people.
Piñera not only supported the transitional government proposed by President (e) Guaidó, but also free and fair elections. “Venezuela is living a dramatic situation, the worst political crisis in its history. The best solution is a transitional government and free elections so that the people can choose their rulers,” the Chilean president said during his speech before the United Nations.
On the other hand, he praised the work that the countries of the region have been doing to address the humanitarian crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. “We appreciate the efforts of the Forum for the Progress of South America (Prosur), the Pacific Alliance and those coordinating bodies of the democratic countries of the region, very useful especially in the fight against the coronavirus,” he ended.
