The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Andrés Allamand, warned that the release of political prisoners is not enough for the electoral farce to gain legitimacy.
Allamad insisted that free vote, an independent National Electoral Council (CNE) and international observation must be guaranteed. Otherwise, it will continue to lack any legitimacy.
“There is no full participation of political parties, no independent electoral body, and no international oversight. Therefore, these measures have to be accompanied by others to give legitimacy to a process that today lacks it,” he said this Tuesday through his personal Twitter account.
The Nicolás Maduro dictatorship announced on Monday that it was granting a “presidential” pardon to more than 100 members of the Venezuelan democracy who were kidnapped by the dictatorship or in exile.
