The Fundación Simón Bolívar, the private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of CITGO Petroleum Corporation, signed a grant agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for $500,000 as part of its Medium/Large Grant program.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies will invest this grant in strengthening the emergency response capacity of two Venezuelan Red Cross health facilities that serve approximately 10,000 people, one in the Capital District and the other in Santa Elena de Uairén, Bolivar State. Both facilities provide primary health care, nutritional monitoring of women of reproductive age and children under five, psychosocial support, hygiene training, drug distribution, breastfeeding promotion, and infant food.
The International Federation of Red Cross Societies is the world’s largest humanitarian network with 192 National Red Cross Societies working locally to help, impartially, people in need. It responds to and prepares for disasters, brings health services to local communities, advocates for best humanitarian practice and ensures the dignity of displaced people.
The Simon Bolivar Foundation is pleased to enter into this grant agreement with the International Federation of Red Cross Societies, as it is an organization with a solid track record of assisting those in need in Venezuela.
