The Commissioner of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the crisis of Venezuelan Migrants and Refugees, David Smolansky, repudiated Maduro’s mockery when he asked Venezuelan migrants to return to the country despite the humanitarian crisis that has each and everyone the inhabitants of Venezuela mired in misery and has led millions to leave everything and flee the country.
“Maduro cynically asks the exiled Venezuelans to return when what is about to happen is the opposite and there will be more Venezuelan refugees than Syrians in a few months,” Mr. Smolansky warned through his social network accounts.
The Venezuelan representative to the OAS reported that the dictatorship has led Venezuelans to jump into the sea or have to walk across the continent because they cannot survive in their country.
The most recent report of the OAS Working Group warned that in the coming months more than 1.4 million new Venezuelan migrants and refugees are expected. The text directly points to Maduro’s regime as responsible, for stealing the country’s wealth and keeping citizens in misery.
Currently, approximately 96% of the people in Venezuela live in poverty or extreme poverty and about 10 million people suffer from food insecurity according to the United Nations World Food Program.
